NZ Pine Harvesting

This cable Hauler is currently located on state highway 33 between Tauranga and Rotorua and I've been keen to take a blip as they harvest these pines along the roadside.

It's not often you see harvesting on main roads and is impressive to watch how quickly the bush gangs can remove a forest within weeks if not days using modern machinery and gear.

I don't have full knowledge of harvesting but you can see the hauler at the top of the hill attached to the digger at the bottom. The cable has a grab with chains which wrap around logs on the forest floor which are then pulled to the top before being cut to length then transported to mills or the port.

The challenge with this blip : there was no where to park on the roadside so I just pointed the phone towards the forest and drove past doing 100 kph and hoped for the best.
Yes presently surprised.
