Goodbye Bangkok

It seems unbelievable that we are now enroute for our final destination, Singapore, which we should reach late on Thursday. Bangkok, which is now retreating into the distance, will be remembered for the glorious silks, the elaborate Temples and the less elaborate ones that appear along the roads so that people 'can make the Buddah happy!'
It will also be remembered for the glorious Palace gardens and the immaculate guards who stand in the searing heat in heavy uniforms for hours.
Today we visited one of its huge shopping malls strolling around in air conditioned comfort only to see all the shops in every other shopping mall all over the world! Not all of them has an ice rink though, and just like the one in Dubai, we stood and watched as two young girls took there first faltering steps on the ice.
We changed some of our Hong Kong currency into their currency, the Baht. There are 30 Bahts to the US$ or 48 to UK £. In need of some face cream, I strolled into Boots, yes they have one here, and bought some Clarins (not normally cheap) for 99 bahts. Only later did I realise that this was either a real bargain and should have bought their complete supply OR I fallen for the oldest trick in the book and tomorrow will be in real trouble and in need of a plastic surgeon when I get back!
Today's collection speaks for itself I hope.
