Triumph at Torpids!

The Hertford M2 after a successful 'bump' during the Torpids.

The Torpids boat race has been an annual event at Oxford University since 1838. It's a 'bump' style race which involves college rowing teams racing down the Isis in an attempt to bump the boat in front before they are hit from behind. The result is of course absolute carnage and makes for thoroughly entertaining viewing.

Hertford has managed to put forward six boats and all are doing exceptionally well. Each boat is steadily climbing in the rankings and the first women and first men are both tipped for blades. I will attempt an action shot tomorrow but the excitement of cheering seems to be hampering my photo-taking ability!
