St Martin's, across from the fields

After Andy's football tournament at Haddington (undefeated, came away with a medal) we decided he'd earned a knickerbocker glory from the ice cream van, and went across to St Martin's Kirk to eat it.

We were puzzled by the square holes in the wall - they looked like they might have been for joists, but seemed to be at the wrong height.

We thought we'd solved the mystery when we found an information board - but this informed us that nobody knew what the square holes were for.
