Saturday 26 May 2012: A bit of a handful!

This fine specimen was thrust at us as a subject for a photograph when I was taking a picture of a puny plastic specimen outside the Lobster Shack at North Berwick this afternoon.

We had a glorious day pottering around East Lothian. First stop was Smeaton Nursery where we bought a beautiful orange azalea which will light up a dull corner of the garden, and which I can see right now from the office window.

Then on round by Tantallon Castle with views to the Bass Rock. But no visit to the beach there as our younger child wasn't feeling too great at the time.

An ice cream in North Berwick provided some diversion, and a chance encounter meant I've now had a sneak preview of the programme which will be launched on Tuesday - shhhh. Don't tell.

What a wonderful day.

Just sad that our daughter wasn't here. It's her 14th birthday today, but she's off on a trip to Switzerland, so I'm sure she's having a great time. Just wish we could hear from her on the day, but the school don't allow it. Back tomorrow though.
