Getting better every day

Took off all the winter blankets yesterday and was very pleased with the result. No sign of condensation and the bees hadn't attacked the "duvets".

All four colonies looking OK. Given the awful condition they were in late autumn after the Varroa treatment, I am very happy that they all look so fit even if the frames are not overly full.

For those not so familiar with bee hives, a really good hive of 50,000 bees in summer will automatically reduce it's numbers to around 10,000 in winter.

Thanks to all those who recommended their own or Grandad's old winter packaging tips, back in the autumn.
