Sticky Bread

4 oz All-Bran (Kellogg's)
5 oz caster sugar
10 oz mixed dried fruit
1/2 pint milk
4 oz self-raising flour

Mix: All-Bran; dried fruit; and sugar together.
Stir in the milk, and leave to soak for an hour.
Sieve in the flour; mix thoroughly; and then pour into a (lined) 2 lb loaf tin.
Bake at 180 degrees C (350 degrees F) for about an hour.
Turn out of tin at once, and leave to cool.

It keeps fairly well, and can be frozen. Best eaten with some butter/margarine/spread of your preference.

Warning - high fibre content!

An old family recipe, that my Mum used to be annoyed at, if it turned out the least bit sticky. Whereas as kids, we loved it if it did!

I've made better ones, though this is the first in years. Suspect the dried fruit wasn't that great, as it was (cheap and) lacking currants. Seemed to taste better after a few days...
