Photo-a-day retirement

Windy woodland wedding

Young Asian couples, mainly I think Japanese, come to NZ for a European style "white wedding". There are lots of people involved in the organizing of these, but it always seems slightly sad to me that they are so far from home, and often don't have any or many family with them.

Of course the photos are of huge importance, and are often taken in Hagley Park, as there are cherry blossoms in spring and golden leaves in autumn. This couple were very happy for me to take some photos of them as they posed for the photographer. I went home, but two hours later they were still there, just packing up, so they must have taken hundreds, but all in the same place and of the same pose!

They were very lucky, the day started off clear blue and warm, then it went very black and poured with rain, but had cleared again and was still warm when they were being photographed - in that dress she could have been absolutely frozen at this time of year!

They seemed very quiet and quite tense, of all the shots I took this is the only one where she is smiling but maybe that is a cultural thing, not showing emotion.

I just hope they had a wonderful day, and that they will be happy.
