Breaking bud

It is still so cold out in the garden and most things seem to be on hold. It feels like the soil will never warm up enough for the plants to burst into life again. Nevertheless I few plants like this Hydrangea are bravely swelling their buds to busting point. It made me think of this line from Anais Nin -  "There came a time when the risk to remain tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom." I feel I can sense this acute dilemma now in some of the plants, but thankfully I guess, one by one, they will not be able to help themselves!"
