Bee invasion

Back into work today with very sore legs and feet after yesterday's stint at the Chelsea Flower Show.

The office was very hot and full of bees. We tried encouraging them out of the open windows but we had a constant stream of them buzzing in and out. After a bit of investigation, our resident bee expert realised that they had built a comb between the roof of the building and the false ceiling. They had gained access to the building through several holes in the mortar on the outside of the building. He tried to gain access with a view to moving the colony but it was too inaccessible and his beekeeping insurance only covered him to work up to 3m high. After a call to another bee keeper, who also said that it would be too difficult to remove the colony, the pest controllers were called in.

This poor bee was one of the many dead bees at the base of the building when I left.
