Chelsea Flower Show

My mum has always wanted to go the the Chelsea Flower Show so this year we arranged some tickets for the late entry session. We had a leisurely morning chatting and visiting a garden centre and then headed off to London around 2 pm.

It was heaving at the show ground and very, very hot. It was difficult to see any of the show gardens so we headed off to the pavilion first to look at some of the indoor displays. I popped in to say hello to my colleagues who were very busy on the stand.

After about 5 pm, and revived with a cup of tea, we braved the show gardens. The crowds had thinned out a bit and the breeze had cooled things down. There was lots of pollen and debris falling from the trees so the crowd was emitting lots of sneezes at regular intervals. All the water features were filling up with leaves and the gardeners were out with nets and brooms trying to keep the gardens looking at their best. We had a good look around and there were some amazing gardens that seemed much more natural looking than they had a few years ago and very much focussed on wildlife and saving water.

This was one of my favourites.

Home for 10 pm and worn out after another long day of crowds and walking. Back there again tomorrow, this time with work again!
