Empire Mine State Historic Park

For the daughter's birthday we took a two hour trip to the Empire Mine State Historic Park in Grass Valley, California. It was absolutely beautiful. It was hard to find just one picture. This was just one of the old tin buildings with gardens. But there is also a gorgeous building that the owner lived in - stone and brick with gardens and fountains. Tough choice, but I love how this picture looks with the wild flower garden. This gold mine had a lot of immigrants from Cornwall, England. The mines were massive - hundreds of miles of shafts. It was mind-boggling.
