Bagan

We arrived in Bagan at about 6am and had to wait an hour before checking in to our rooms for a nap. In the afternoon we rented electronic bikes to explore the nearby ancient temples. First stop was Bulethi, a steep temple with only a few tourists. I definitely didn't pose for this shot.

Next was Shwesandaw Pagoda which was heaving with tourists trying to get a good spot for the sunset. Due to the haze (and crowds) it was a little disappointing but the area in general was fantastic. There are over 2200 temples and pagodas still remaining of the 10,000 originally built between the 11th and 13th centuries.

Liv and I booked a hot air balloon ride for early the next morning and then we rode back to our hotel in the dark on less than ideal roads. The best restaurant in town is called "Weather Spoon's", named after the classy pubs in the UK. We had a pretty good dinner there and got an early night ready for the 5am alarm.
