Night on Bald Mountain

Actually it wasn't the night and it wasn't Bald Mountain, it was Bald Hill.  And actually this shot it not on Bald Hill, but on the way there.

So you may think this Mussorgsky reference a long bow too stretched - and who could blame you for that! But who cares!

There appears to have been some back burning in this area - and well done too.  The crowns are still in tact, but the undergrowth gone completely and only the base of the trees have been blackened.

The stiff grassy-type growths still retain the last ground-hugging jutting and blackened vestiges - but it's just for show - those blade-like protrusions are empty and just send out black cloud-like puffs as you tread on them.

Home via Sofala which happened to be having their 'Rebellion on the Turon' celebration just by sheer chance.
