The Arc of Noah

Exploring my new surroundings I couldn't believe my eyes when I spotted Noah's Arc across the river.

It's huge, so in order to give you some idea of scale I shot this - also quite big - Rhine barge in front of it.

I did my research and found more info on their website: www.arcofnoah.org

This is what they say:
Come aboard of this replica of the oldest and largest wooden ship in the world and take part in activities which the whole family can enjoy. You get an impression of what the ship looked like and how Noah and his family must have lived.

The Ark is approximately 20.000 square meters in size  with showcases and presentations about Noah’s history, scientific background information, various themed paintings, cinemas, and a restaurant where you can enjoy a view over the Merwede River and the city of Dordrecht. The Ark also has two large amphitheaters where we have various events, including concerts, musicals and much more. We also have displays of live small animals such as rabbits, squirrels, horses and kangaroos. We also have polyester replicas of the larger and exotic animals. The story of Noah is told in the ‘Ark experience’. It will take you back in history.

Come aboard!

Ps, the color version is on my Flickr page.
