A toast to the Living Wage

I spent the day in Kintyre taking part in some celebrations - one of the nicer parts of being the  local MSP.

One was the completion of the 100 mile route for the Kintyre Way at which I cut the cake and then witnessed the opening of the last marker board on the shore at Machrihanish.   Luckily, although it was windy, the sun shone.

The other happy event was the presentation of  "Living Wage" Accreditation to Campbeltown based J & A Mitchell & Co Ltd ,Scotland's oldest family owned distillers ,who have become the first distillery in these islands to sign on to the living wage campaign.

This is the workforce at the Springbank Distillery and I was also at the Glengyle Distillery for the first time where , I noticed, the plaque on the wall of the production building recorded the opening of it by Winnie Ewing, eleven years ago almost to the day.
