Patience

His Lordship and I are similarly afflicted by the need, manifesting itself for a few days before going on holiday, to clean the house to a level of spotlessness not seen since our last departure, and wash every bit of clothing and bedlinen in sight.

We are under the assumption that we can then depart with light hearts and clear conscience, safe in the knowledge that we will return to a pristine home.

The trouble is that on our return, we will not notice this cleanliness as we open the door against a wall of mail, and disgorge the contents our cases far and wide.
We will not notice the dust, which has not been on holiday, settled on all the polished surfaces, so pleased will we be to be back home in our familiar surroundings

I do wish we could just up sticks and take off, leaving the house in a state in which we're happy to live when we're not away.
It's hard enough to pack for a month away from home without the angst of washing and cleaning everything in sight.

Thank goodness for this wee Westie patiently waiting outside the local Starbucks, otherwise my only other blip was of two bin lorries and five refuse collectors picking up last night's litter from the Meadows.
We'll be spared tonight as it's misty and damp, so no picnickers.

I wonder what I can wash and tidy now......
