Fairy-tale Morning

No more complaining about the weather. Today could not have been more perfect. The morning offered a fantastic temperature inversion so there was a calling from the moor to climb up above the fog and into the sun. The cloud effects and the light were quite magical. Much time was spent running around in circles trying to catch the sun when it emerged from the higher cloud cover. Long-standing visitors to my journal will be familiar with this little shepherd's hut. In these conditions it feels like it should have a place in a fairy tale!

Back home for a bite to eat and a sunbathe on the balcony before setting out on the bike. It was such a joy to be able to wear shorts and a short-sleeved shirt. I headed out towards Pateley Bridge, turning off just before the town to climb up to Greenhow by the formidable Peat Lane. It felt good to get into a good climbing rhythm, albeit a slow one. The warmth of the day seemed to revitalise the legs. The only frustration was getting stuck behind a Porsche driver on the descent to Appletreewick. He was unable to go faster than 30mph, and seemed to think his car was twice was wide as it actually was! What a waste on a number of counts!! The last climb over Nesfield was very slow but with a hundred miles in the legs in not much more than 24 hours, I don't need to beat myself up over that!
