Another Preschool

We went to meet an other community looking to get a metal roof for their preschool.

In Malawi children go to Primary school at six, by which time boys can help make bricks (in our areas) and little girls can carry water from whatever source might be available.
So, as a father, why let them go to school and carry on the same cycle of poverty and depravation.

Women and mothers realize that education brings the possibility of breaking the cycle.

Each women’s self-help cluster has water as a main priority and preschools following close behind.

We work with communities where, and only where the whole community is involved. WE work on training everyone and the women who will become the carers.

If they eventually build a building we provide metal sheets for the roof, as they can provide everything else.

The preschools we support take in children at 3 and the vast majority move on to primary school. It’s a huge success.

The pic shows the meeting (with all the women sitting on the ground opposite, out of picture)
