Life is like a river

By Gunnlaug

Christmas in April?

An old plant of a Schlumbergera-variety (or Christmas Cactus) has it's place high up on the top shelf of my office cabinet at work.  I do my best to ignore it - like all the other plants in my office - and just water it now and then, thinking it will probably not live for much longer.  It's companion, the red one, died last year while I was away from work for over two months because of a broken wrist.  But now I've watched this one survive - and bloom every November - for the last 5 years.  To my surprise it was sporting this lovely out-of-season-flower when I came to work after the weekend and therefore became my blip for the day.

My new book, "How to kill the office plants your job description says you're supposed to care for" will have to be revised and edited once again before publication...
