Poppies

Just doing a bit of tidying up in the garden and the case is packed. Tomorrow we're off to Loch Melfort in Argyll - a place we've being going to with the dogs for the last five years and one which we have come to love.

On the subject of the House Martins - after the great rains of yesterday and loads of mud around the garden our two friends returned with a vengance this morning - they just won't give up. They seems to have decided our French Window is going to be their home from now until October - but sadly LargoLad and I have other ideas. They got a third eviction this morning and this time by me and my goodness was I under attack! They are fierce little things - but who wouldn't be when your home is under attack. Anyway I've attached a number of Jess and Molly's pooh bags (unfilled of course) to the window frame and hopefully we won't have House Martins in residence when we come home.

My blip today is of our Poppies - or soon to be Poppies. We'll probably miss them as they'll be past by the time we come home and as I'm in the middle of preparing a speech for Burns Supper later in the month - the following quote from Tam O' 'Shanter came to mind and seems appropriate.:-

" But pleasures are like poppies spread,
You sieze the flower, its bloom is shed,
Or like the snow fall on the river,
A moment white then melts for ever".

Ok off to load the car and prepare for tomorrow - will try to blip from Melfort have a wonderful Jubilee week end everyone.
