Saturday 2 June 2012: Magic Flute
We went across to Glasgow today for a lovely day in the West End. I plan one day to transmit my love of Glasgow to SPS, but so far it has been a hard sell.
Well today I think a spot of DeCourcey's Arcade and Byres Road might have shifted opinions a little, especially after some dress shopping in the new upstairs vintage shops. Tomorrow we are going to the 60s fashion afternoon at Prestongrange museum, so all in a vintage weekend.
This is the oldest thing i've blipped. It is thefigurine of Isis nursing Horus at Kelvingrove. Isis and Osiris is my favourite Mozart aria from the Magic Flute, so it caught my eye. Apparently Osiris lost his penis to a fish when he was hacked to bits by Set, but Isis was able to reanimate him and get him to sire her son Horus posthumously. Some magic flute indeed.
On a technical note I am finding the 50 1.4 impossible to accurately autofocus wide open, so am manually focusing at 10x on live view. It has a lovely big manual focus ring so don't mind overly.
I took all the classic cliche pics in Kelvingrove. I always do, and I never blip them. Instead I liked this.
My friend S, Dad to Baby E bought his first DSLR today...I am going to try and convince him that blip is a great way to get into it.
