Cote de Goose Eye

Today's Old Geezers walk started (and finished) at Laycock. The weather was atrocious - very wet underfoot and  persistent rain. Our early excitement at walking down the Cote de Goose Eye (which featured in last weekends Tour de Yorkshire) was quickly dampened by the weather. Our morale was lowered even further when we found our intended route blocked by a ranging torrent of water where there should have been a simple ford to cross a gentle stream. Trekking upstream and downstream was futile; there were no crossing opportunities and we were forced to re-think our way back to Laycock. Oh joy! we got to climb back up the Cote de Goose Eye. Hats off to those TdY cyclists - walking up it was bad enough; how they cycle up it at the speeds they achieve is a mystery to us OG's. At least the beer at the Turkey Inn was in fine fettle and the rain stopped and the sun started to shine as we sipped our pints in comfort.
