Early Morning Sun

I was woken up on my first day in Orkney by the sun streaming through the window.
It was 4:45am when I took this photo of the sun on the roof tops in front of the house.
I went back to bed and sleep.

After a suitable interlude, but before most of Stromness had time to properly waken, I wandered along 'The street', the narrow paved thoroughfare in the town shared by pedestrians and cars alike.

The Orkney festival is on this weekend and yesterday afternoon there was much bustle and merriment along the shore with musicians playing and people enjoying eating and drinking in the sunshine.

But this morning all was quiet and still, with the water shimmering under a blue sky, nothing moving in the harbour except the Orkney ferry preparing for a journey back to the mainland.

For me the only drawback in this cottage is the lack of WiFi. We have a nearby cafe which gives us access, but it means that posting and commenting on Blipfoto is going to have to be done in the time it takes to drink a cup of coffee.
It's sad that most of us depend on the internet to conduct our affairs, and to have it withdrawn takes a bit of getting used to.

I can see that his Lordship is already suffering internet withdrawal symptoms, and suffice it to say that that and along with his feeling cold and missing his study, is having a negative effect on the jollity of the holiday at the moment.
