If you can't beat them...

Looking towards Keswick.

We had planned a few days away in the caravan.  As it is a caravan we haven't used before we decided we would have what we call "a shake down" run.  This is just to make sure we have put everything into it that we should and everything works or more importantly we know how to work everything.

With this in mind we decided to only go to Thirlmere.  Leaving at just before lunch time we arrived and set up then had lunch.  Later we went for a walk along the road towards the dam.  The dam was made to create a reservoir to supply water to Manchester.  Building began in 1890 and I think took about 4 years, which is surprising as it isn't a huge construction project.
