The mighty Yangtze River

Just in case you had romantic ideas of the Yangtze River, this is how it is 80% of the time. It is damp, smoggy and very busy. The banks are lined with industry wherever it is accessible.

The ships are large and carry cargo between the coast and the major cities along the river. Since the building of the three gorges dam, the river has a muck slower flow and is far less dangerous to navigate.
