A Collector of Oddities

Lagoon

Here in Musselburgh on an RSPB volunteers day before the Birdfair this year, now rebranded as Scotland's Big Nature Festival. Doesn't roll off the tongue quite so well!

This is the ash lagoon, the leftovers from the nearby power station. It is a Site of Special Scientific Interest as wading birds stand on it when the tide is in. The vegetation has grown up in recent years though and they want to clear the vegetation and build a moat around it to encourage birds to land there again.
