At The Surgery

God bless the NHS - always there when you need them, for things both great and small. My trip to my GP today was to make an appointment to have my ears syringed. Not life-threatening, or even particularly painful - but the temporary loss of hearing in both ears is a salutary reminder of just how isolating deafness must be for those who suffer on a permanent basis. The practice nurse couldn't have been kinder or more efficient - and I was seen 5 minutes ahead of my appointment time! So grateful for these (largely) unsung heroes.
