Vinyl Night

The every-month-or-so gathering of those in publishing who love vinyl and dancing got under way with a lot of chatting and toe-tapping. A private function downstairs meant that the kitchen was closed (boo) but it did mean that we had our own bar by the dancefloor (whoop!) A course of mambo had us shuffling a little more, but it was a splendid dose of 60s (Mamas and the Papas, Phil Spector, Dusty Springfield) that really got us going. Towards the end of the night, a group of ladies who'd been drinking on the middle floor (between us and the party on the ground floor) were persuaded to join us. It turned out that they worked for Phaidon – more publishers to join Harper Collins, Simon & Schuster and DK. A happy dance meeting indeed.
