Liverpool Overhead Railway

Another Liverpool Biennial piece.

Up until 1956, Liverpool had an overhead railway that ran along the river (and, therefore, the docks) from the Dingle to Bootle. It was closed and dismantled before I was born and I've only ever seen photos of it. Like these.

As part of the Biennial, Liverpool artist Ben Parry has created a film that replicates what you would see on a trip from one end of the railway to the other were it still to be operational today. Its projected as a loop on the side of the George's Dock Building.

I was particularly chuffed to find this photo, taken very close to where tonight's blip was taken.
