Monday 4 June 2012: Stone Muse
After a week of travels, we didn't want a long excursion on Bank Holiday Monday, so headed down to Lister Park and the gallery in Cartwright Hall.
This is one of the stone figures that adorn the cupola of Cartwright Hall, which I'm assuming are representations of the nine muses. Some of the figures have more obvious emblems, but I'm not sure what it is that this one's holding. Perhaps scrolls, making her Clio, or a veil for Polyhymnia?
