Tuesday 5 June 2012: Time to go home...

Beth, Anna, Libby, George, Megan, James, Matthew and Nathan. Some more comfortable in front of the camera than others (but all willing to pose for an end-of-holiday-shot) all in scruffy dirty clothes, all needing a good bath, all a bit weather beaten and tired :)

Aged from fifteen down to eight, they got on brilliantly, in all different combinations, which absolutely made the trip. Not a cross word or a stroppy moment, just plenty of laughing, sweet-eating, exploring, duckings in the lake and competitive Monopoly/card games in wet tents. Not one of them put a foot wrong - we were really proud.

We all live very close by - they all went to the same primary (where Anna still is) and see each other regularly. A return trip to Fforest Fields has been discussed, but it was still sad separating them into different cars to come home.

Taking down huge flapping tents in strong winds wasn't easy, but sausage sandwiches and tea helped. Lots of hands on deck and James and Matthew weighing the tents down to stop them taking off worked well!

I could have happily stayed. It'll be nice to get into a warm bed (it was FREEEEEZING at night, and standing with a morning cuppa wearing pj's, hiking boots, damp socks, a couple of fleeces and a raincoat was admittedly grim!) but it's the first camping trip where I haven't wanted to set fire to the damn tent at the end of it. Progress!

I've backblipped the past few days. Please, please, pretty please take a look - I'm quite proud of them, especially Saturday's! :)
