But, then again . . . . .

Cinema Films.

Running the cinema is somewhat precarious; much of the year there isn't much in the way of exciting films but, then comes Easter. The Academy Awards, aka Oscars, happen in February, and many of the best film releases are timed to coincide with the ceremony but, the release  of the DVD on sale to the general public is a month or two later to give the big cinemas a chance to make a few bucks with the early showings. We, on the other hand, have to wait until the film is in the shops as the copies available from the licensing companies do not have subtitles. Ours is a mature audience and some of our regulars have been known to walk out because their aging ears are unable to decipher the speech. It's a convoluted story but, it is not until after Easter that we can show the Oscar winning films with subtitles; for example, tonight we had Mr Turner, next week it's The Theory of Everything and then, a few weeks later, the last in The Hobbit trilogy. And that's the way it's been for the last eight weeks.
