Tuesday 5 June 2012: Crannog - Loch Tay

This is more my era. A replica of a house on stilts in the water which was found a bit along the coast of the loch and is known to be 2600 years old.

Absolutely fascinating place to visit with a great guided tour where you get to sit in the crannog itself and then try your hand at prehistoric lathing, grinding and fire-making ( which is especially impressive ). The guide was very entertaining and very knowledgeable. If you're anywhere near Perthshire, then I urge you to go and see this place.

Ironically, after my comments about castles not being my thing, there is a theory that these could have been symbols of high status as they were very difficult to build.
