Sunday 3 June 2012: Say 'cheese'
A bottle of local cider and a half-portion of Cabrales cheese. The cheese was excellent. Strong but creamy. The bar obtains it direct from the producer.
Cabrales is made from a blend of cow, goat and sheep milk and is produced in and around the village of Cabrales in the east of Asturias, in the area dominated by the Picos de Europa mountains. Being limestone these mountains are highly eroded and riddled with caves, providing the perfect environment for ripening.
The bar was very quiet but we had famous company. Dining oustide was Luis Enrique who formerly played for Real Madrid, captained Barcelona played for the Spanish squad and until recently manager of Roma.
