Tuesday 5 June 2012: The ideal garden
No rampant weeds, no slugs or other pests, & best of all, rain doesn't stop play! If only all gardening were that easy.
When we moved we brought with us a number of boxes of stuff which needed further consideration, i.e. we knew we didn't need/want it any more, but weren't quite ready to part with it (well, I wasn't ready to completely break my hoarding habit). In one of the boxes was a large selection of Britains Miniature Garden pieces which had belonged to my late sister; I can still remember the Christmas she got the set, & how jealous I was: somehow, the Lego I had long coveted just didn't seem as interesting as what she had, & being a bossy big sister, she would very rarely let me play with it. But eventually she discovered boys & grew out of toys, & the garden set came into my custody; in time, my daughter enjoyed it almost as much as I had, & on one of the rare visits we had from our granddaughters, they too loved playing with it.
But, there are no more grandchildren on the horizon, & so it ended up in the 'ebay' box; except .... when I delved into that box today, instead of organising everything for selling, I ended up playing with the miniature garden! And great fun I had too :-)
I finally reached a compromise whereby I gathered together a few little collections for listing, & the rest has been decanted into a much smaller box which can easily be stored somewhere easy to get at 'just in case' I get the urge to do some gardening again.
