And the river runs...

A beautiful day for exploring Paris! Since the Sacre- Coeur was just on our doorstep we headed up the hill in the morning and indulged our tastebuds by sampling the tasty treats at a little market beside the extravagant basilica. Following that we headed down to the Seine, had a picnic lunch beside the river on Ile de la Cite, then marveled at the splendor of Sainte Chapelle. I took this photo after we spent some time people watching in the front of Notre Dame. This was probably the hottest part of the day...the Seine was shimmering, we were feeling laid back and contented....I think this couple was too. I love the crisp contrasting colours of the clothes and the conspiratorial attitude their body language communicates.
Later on after we picked up food at some little shops in the Latin Quarter we made our way back to our digs.... sirloin steak with red wine sauce and fresh veg, a great way to end a splendid day!
