Sheltering from the rain (method 2)

Well you've already seen mum using method 1! Here is one of her youngsters being even more creative! I was trying to set up an 'infinity pool' for birds but the squirrel family (adult + 3 kits) have been the only ones to use it so far. It is very hard to get cross with them when they are so cute!
Had a blipmeet with GrahamColling today - showed him around all the key spots in the 'nature reserve' that is my garden. Went up to the reservoir to check the grebes. Both parents are off the nest now - I think 2 eggs were lost when the nest finally submerged. However one of the adult birds had 2 chicks on her (?) back so at least we have a 50% success rate. It is very difficult to get a close shot now as they always go to the furthest point away from human beings (generally the centre of the lake).
