Wednesday 6 June 2012: One App says rain, the other two sun...
And this is the cumulative result of conflicting weather reports. Clearly the iPhone is more powerful than I had originally given it credit for...
We went to the dog park. Sun.
We went to get cat food. Sun (oh, and a few dark clouds over there).
We came out of the pet food store where Henry danced for treats the entire 15 minutes. Sun, a bit of dark clouds over there, and big squashy raindrops, one every 5 seconds or so, not enough to clean the bird doo off my windshield.
At this point it was time to start thinking - vantage point. What would look cool in the possible weather situation that may or may not be about to occur... hmmm, how about boats on the water hightailing it to dry land. So I went to Lake Calhoun, parked the car and literally dodged raindrops for about 15 minutes as we made our way to the water's edge.
Henry thought it was super cool, and then the drops started to speed up, along with the wind. I wondered about the waterproofedness of my camera bag and just how stupid this adventure would turn out to be... then the big rainbow came out, shadowed by a faint double rainbow and I didn't care too much about the end result of things. This was just really pretty and unexpected.
Found a somewhat sheltered spot at the base of a tree and the bear and I just sat and watched - and took a picture or two.
Turns out the canine, camera and myself are all at least a bit waterproof, no harm done. Things just get better and better.
EDIT: they really do get better - here's the other end of the rainbow compliments of memento!
