Desert Squirrel

Shy sunrise

The sky was quite red when I left on my walk this morning, but clouds on the horizon built up to obscure the sun. Valiantly it peaked through, and illuminated just a little of the high cloud.  Hard to imagine that in a few hours the sky would be clear, and the sun shining effortlessly across the plains.  Cloud blanketed the inland hills, though, and I was glad to be here close to the sea.  The nor'wester brings rain to the mountains, but fine, warm weather to the coast and plains.

I visited the Botanic Gardens again this afternoon, but the strong sunlight, even late in the afternoon, was too harsh for my camera.
