Waterfoot Sunrise

Thalassa

Spent the morning working at the Old School House helping dig out tree stumps that threatened to undermine the building's foundations. It was a slow job down on hands and knees with a trowel removing the soil from around each root before cutting them. After about an hour's work by four of us we eventually managed to get the stump out that we started removing last week!

Managed to get another 4 smaller stumps out before we called it a day at lunchtime. We are volunteers after all, so half a days work is reasonable!

In the afternoon it was down to Campbeltown to get a set of new tyres fitted to my car. By jings they are not cheap nowadays and I reckon you could buy an old car for the cost of 4 tyres! While waiting for them to be fitted, Mrs B headed off to the supermarket for the shopping and I wandered down to the harbour in the rain to check out the 3 mast tall ship Thalassa, which has been in and out of Campbeltown over the last week.

Because of the weather I wasn't hanging about and decided that a quick blip of the figurehead would be the most colourful thing on offer. Thalassa is apparently a Greek girl's name meaning "from the sea", which I guess explains the mermaid.

The generally good weather we have had over the last couple of months looks like it has gone for a while. There again, we are now in Summer!
