Very hungry caterpillar.

I noticed yesterday a post on a friend's facebook wall saying they had quite a few of these spectacular critters, so asked if I could pop around to their house to photograph them. They are Puss moth caterpillars. They found the moth and kept it and the next morning found it had laid a load of eggs. In the 'wild' then I'm guessing a lot would be gobbled up by hungry birds but as these have been inside and away from predators she's ended up with about thirty of them. Some of the biggest ones are now around 4" long. She's feeding them twice a day, they have munched their way through most of her willow tree and are probably not far off the pupal stage. May have to take another trip back when they start emerging..... they are pretty impressive.
