Thermal baths

This is the 12 century Arab baths, built on the original Roman baths. The spa hotel was built on top so you pass these preserved baths on the way to the 1990s escorted spa circuit.

Originally the hotel was full of 17th and 18th century details but as is so often the case here it's been 'modernised' in the 70s, 80s and 90s so is somewhat devoid of charm now but the place as I said yesterday has a great energy.

But it's simple and has a sort of public sector health centre feel about it. For those that prefer a more 5 star thermal bath experience then go to the recently renovated Padierna Hotel baths at Carratraca. That place is amazing - you get to use the original Roman baths! Plus it is very plush with Frett bed linens and bathrobes :-) but the waters are sulphurous so the hotel and spa smells like a naughty school boy has let off a stink bomb.
