Scorched wing.....

I thought you might enjoy this scorched wing moth  Plagodis dolabraria, who came to my trap last night.
Named after it's resemblance to burnt paper, the Scorched wing is widely distributed in England and Wales, inhabiting woodland, and (it seems) gardens. The larvae feed on on a range of deciduous trees including Birch, which is another good reason to not cut my silver birch tree down!
It was a first record for my garden for this moth, so I am a happy bunny.
