Mudsummer fest danc

@ Laitikkala, Pälkäne. Traditional dance evening with silver birch decorations for Midsummer.

The local band 'Huvitus' is playing tango, but I do no like that and my hubby can not dance it too well, so we had a cup of coffee in the cafeteria upstrairs during the tangos. People love Walzes and Foxtrot most. There also was played a couple of Jenkka and Polka, but most of the people can not dance them. I know how, but dare not dance anymore :(

The knee support works quite well, I can dance (easy) walze and even foxtrot (without the quicksteps) with hubby!

Midsummer dance is an important way to celebrate in small willages, as there is no restaurants at all, or maybe there is only one pub only somewhere. In midsummer dance party teens meet each other (so here there is young romance in the air), and kids learn to dance, people are faving fun togheter. Old tradidion is to party for good growth of crops, that is why the green birches are indoors.

We danced to the end, to the midnight. Then seached our daughter somewhere and drove home. :)
