Shadow or cross: St John's Cross, Iona

Looking through Iona pictures: the multiple shadows cast on the church, the scaffolding etc. Sometimes it is only the shadow side of Christianity, (messed around by the myth of redemptive suffering and cliches such as that discernment  must take time, or that skulduggery on one side is necessarily balanced by skulduggery on the other) that people relate too. It needs to be all out in the sun. Nothing covered up. But then again, on this picture, the "real" cross is already a concrete copy. We only have interpretations. We need to live with that. And it  ought to be good news, not a disappointment.
