Oh Deer!

The best thing to happen to me today....We let the deer out for a run around the enclosure...wonderful. They skipped, jumped, shook their heads and ate the grass at such speed!

The sunlight filtered through the leaves of the trees onto their unique coat, transporting them (In my mind) to the natural environment they should be in and where I have only ever seen deer. The owner seemed to enjoy their happiness and said he would make a run for them! He also spoke of only having animals that are suitable for the climate here in Luxor. Maybe he is learning after all!

Warily we approached the subject of the Swamp/Jungle Cats and how sad they were in this environment, they needed to be released into one of the many reserves we have here in Egypt.

I offered to try and raise the money to pay him for them, but he refused this. Despite everything, he is not completely money driven and is a kind of decent man. Julie, a fellow ACE member from Cairo, made a suggestion that he seemed to like. A plan was hatched and so we will begin work as soon as possible.

The animals seemed to be ok today, Robbie was chatting away, quite chilled out, sat watching what was going on around him. The birds were happy and the deer were most definitely happy :-)

Plan number 3, is to get the Guinea Pig run made as they are living in a glass fronted space, which is very wrong for them, it's too hot....shweya, shweya as we say here, slowly, slowly.
