Dark Secrets

This poppy looked as if it had something to hide as it kept two petals closely guarding access to its core. I processed it with some tone-mapping to reveal as much of its dark secret as possible.

Now to reveal what yesterday's flower was:
It was a feral lupin viewed straight down from above the apex of the spike. Two images of it were combined to give more effective depth of field: in one the focus was on the unopened buds, in the other the focus was on the topmost layer of opened flowers. The in-focus parts of each were combined.
