The Way it Was

Out to Mum's to do good son stuff. And she reflected back on her trip to Rome just after the war with her sister. I've seen photos of the two of them with their wide splayed dresses outside the famous sights. Not a common thing in those days - their parents, from rural Galloway, didn't believe that a woman's place was in the home and there were few careers open to clever women - so of course they both became teachers.
After that, I eventually ended up down fiddling at the boat and ferrying people about and lounging and blethering. I shall report on the famous heat sensor in due course. The bore is OK - but the head isn't sufficiently chamfered to miss one of the engine bolts. Tsk. I shall write to Mr Vetus about his replacement engine parts. And finally out through rain swept streets to Angels with Bagpipes for a meal. Rather OK actually. And good old L had a few glasses at hand when we got back - and Steely Dan. Click those fingers with the rhythm!
