walking Hadrian's wall

A 10 mile walk along Hadrian's wall. Required plenty of picnic stops along the way! Apparently this is the most photographed bit of the wall since its appearance in the Robin Hood movie.

After our long walk we had dinner in Hexham then drove to a b&b in Kielder. We had a session booked from midnight until 3am at Kielder observatory. Kielder has 'dark skies' status as it has the least light pollution in the UK so that you can get fantastic views of the stars. Unfortunately as we arrived it started to rain and we couldn't see the stars for cloud. We had a really interesting talk on space and got to see fantastic photos of distant galaxies taken at the observatory. I'll have to arrange another trip to try and see the nights sky without the clouds.....
